Associate Designer, Lighting
The Associate Designer, Lighting will assist the Design Team in creating all lighting designs for Luce and Quantum projects. It is expected the Designer will create drawings, schedules, and specifications packages. The Designer may be responsible for communicating with the client from time to time, and understanding the project’s objectives. The Designer works with the design staff to develop project deliverables as detailed in the project description and contract.
Job Responsibilities:
Supports the design effort for projects
Supports the design implementation and lighting installation (per project scope)
Support development of and communicate lighting design concepts
Organize and produce design documents
Assist or direct in field implementation of lighting design when required
Interface with other disciplines throughout the various project phases as required
Research fixture information and lighting technologies in support of design effort
Work with supervisor in order to adhere to budget and schedule
Support mock-ups and presentations
Perform test and adjust tasks as needed
May independently design projects
Perform QAQC review on all project submittals and documents
Travel to project meetings as needed (Travel estimated at 35%)
Provide onsite technical support
Continue professional development and education for emerging lighting technologies and industry standards
Requirement Capabilities:
Theater, Film/TV, Theme Park, and/or Museum Design Experience
Possess a basic to advanced understanding of the electrical configuration of theatrical dimming systems and its control as well as LED/RGB infrastructure
Working knowledge of theatrical design and technical knowledge of specific discipline, including methods of construction
Working knowledge of architectural and facility requirements and integration of specific discipline products into an attraction, museum, or live event
Understanding of the creative process and the development of a creative design
Proficient in either Vectorworks or AutoCAD (Vectorworks Preferred)
Must be able to read architectural blueprints and interpret electrical drawings
1+ years experience in in lighting design for attractions, museums, architecture, or live events
Ability to deliver on a project’s established scope, schedule and budget
Demonstrated commitment to on-going personal education
Understanding of current technology and industry standards for all aspects of design
Ability to work flexible hours - nights, weekends, holidays
Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or G Suite
Possess excellent communication skills; highly motivated; can accept direction easily
Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Desired Capabilities:
BA or MFA preferred (Theater, Art, Design, Architecture) or equivalent work experience. This includes lighting design for museums, attractions, retail spaces, restaurant spaces, display areas, landscape, facades and area development.
Experience with Revit/BIM 360
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator)
Experience with Lightwright
Experience with AGI 132
Experience with Slack
Fluency in Chinese or Spanish (written and spoken)
Ability to work closely with all relevant staff to prioritize, organize, instruct and problem-solve during installation, content integration and programming

It’s important that you enjoy and/or have had experience working in entertainment, theme parks, museums, theater, or interactive experiences. Luce Group is a global company with international projects. Successful candidates may be required to travel internationally and must be comfortable working closely with clients and vendors of different cultural backgrounds.
